Welcome to the scenic seaside village of Combe Martin in North Devon. Our local Bring and Buy Community Shop is open for business on Borough Rd (A399), Combe Martin EX34 0DQ.

Run entirely by volunteers since 2018, the Combe Martin Community Shop is one of the village’s most loved Bring & Buy charity ventures, supporting good causes across the community. The shop moved in 2023 to new, larger premises on Borough Road (A399) among the local businesses.

Just a short walk from the beaches and Combe Martin Museum, the shop is open Monday to Saturday. It's a friendly source of bargains, to donate items, and to help strengthen Combe Martin's community. Visit the shop and discover something great.

How the Shop Connects to Local History

The Combe Martin Community Shop is a modern initiative, but it reflects a long tradition of local people and industries working together to meet Combe Martin's needs. Throughout its history, Combe Martin villagers, affectionately known as 'Shammickites', have repeatedly adapted to changing economic and social circumstances through local enterprise, and community co-operation.

When the Combe Martin silver mines declined in the nineteenth century, many Shammickites turned to market gardening and strawberry growing, creating a thriving local industry that supplied many counties, and sustained the village for generations.

Alongside this spirit of enterprise: parish charities, voluntary organisations, fundraising groups, and community facilities such as Combe Martin Village Hall, have long relied on Combe Martin's 'Shammickites' supporting one another.

Combe Martin Community Shop continues this tradition of self-help. Established to provide an essential local service and operated for the benefit of the village, it is run by volunteers and helps support local organisations and community projects.

This community enterprise is much more than a village shop: it is part of Combe Martin's living heritage, continuing a centuries-old tradition of resilience, cooperation, and community action that has helped Combe Martin adapt and thrive across generations.
